Abstract: Recent migrations occur in a world deeply transformed by both the globalization processes and the digital revolution. The broad accessibility of the ICT generates various transnational exchanges within a permanent regime of telepresence. Internet facilitates the co-presence of mobile actors in multiple locations and allows the emergence of new transnational habitus. It also enhances new connected ways of mobilization and cohesion at a distance. Thus, the digital revolution accelerates the transformation of the society from inside and contributes to a kind of «cosmopolitanization of nation-state societies» (U. Beck). This challenging reality asks for the renewal of the theoretical lens in migration studies. In this lecture, I argue that migratory theories cannot be dissociated from larger epistemological debates and general social theories; I then suggest that revisiting the national-transnational nexus by adopting an inclusive cosmopolitan stance leads to a better understanding of the dialogical ubiquitous condition of the modern migrants.
